A Navy Commander reporting for duty in the 84th District.
Brian Scopa is a retired United States Navy Commander and candidate for Illinois House District 84, representing Aurora, Naperville, Oswego, and Montgomery. After 22 years of distinguished military service — including six combat deployments, service as chief engineer aboard a 9,000-ton destroyer, and leadership of a Navy Reserve center — Brian now brings that experience to the fight for IL-84 families.
As a Surface Warfare Officer, Brian managed a training budget of more than $60 million for over 55,000 reservists, developing expertise in accountability, efficiency, and results-based operations. He holds a B.S. in Psychology and an M.A. in National Strategic Studies, with a concentration in counterterrorism.
Brian decided to run after local Republican losses left the party searching for candidates willing to compete in challenging districts. As a father of three school-aged children in the district, he could not stand on the sidelines while Springfield politicians raised taxes, failed schools, and made Illinois increasingly unaffordable for working families.
